Climate protection: Excursus on emission factors

CO2-Footprint on the fly:

è Capture your company's activity data

è Research into reliable emission factors

è Calculation of the CO2-Footprints of your company

CO2-Footprint in detail: (see picture)

For companies, the calculation of a CO2-footprints is the first step on the road to climate protection. Emission factors are a core component of the calculation of greenhouse gas emissions:

In order to reduce CO2-In order to create a company's footprint, one first collects the Activity data of the company. This includes, for example, fuel consumption of the vehicle fleet in litres or electricity consumption in kWh.

Next, you need the appropriate Emission factorswhich come from reliable sources such as the Federal Environment Agency or databases such as Ecoinvent.

Then the greenhouse gas emissions are calculated as in the following example:

This type of calculation is performed for all relevant activity data. Therefore, suitable emission factors must be researched for these activity data.

Greenhouse gas emissions are reported in CO2-equivalents (CO2(e) reported. Under the unit CO2equivalents, all the above-mentioned greenhouse gases are combined in one unit. The greenhouse gas potential of the gases is related to the effect of carbon dioxide. 1 kilogram of methane flows through 25 times the climate impact of CO2 i.e. with 25 kg CO2-equivalents into a greenhouse gas balance.

The M&P Group is happy to actively support you with holistic climate protection strategies.
